As we move into 2012, the sustainability movement becomes holistic, paying special consideration to the core of our resources—the entity Earth. We will strive to create a bold new vision for honoring, respecting and protecting our planet. This focus will be articulated throughout all design mediums, spotlighting sources of nourishment—sand, soil, rock, water, air, fuel, flora and fauna. A myriad variation of minerals and a full range earthy browns will showcase milky whites; subdued, buttery yellows and watery blues. Straw, sienna and umber will mix with colorful vegetal dyes in safflower, madder, pomegranate and henna. Texture and layering will be key to this story as we seek tactile experiences to draw us closer to nature.

Marble, onyx and travertine receive special attention in the coming year and lend reverence to floors and walls, especially with dramatic striations, veining and fissures. Favored colors are a warm range of earth-created hues rooted in mocha, sienna, copper and classic neutrals. Enjoy these spectacular pictures!
