Honoring our Veterans

Most days I try and carry a big bucket of gratitude around with me. I know I have a lot to be thankful for – amazing family, good friends, great job, health, security and even the basics, like clean water, heat and air-conditioning, and a coffee maker. Today I woke up with a more intensified feeling of being appreciative – for all that I have, but also for all of our veterans – past, present and future – who serve our country so selflessly.
Today is Veterans Day. A time to pause and think about those who serve our nation, knowing fully well it could cost them their lives.
It’s easy to skip over today as just another holiday that sends kids home early from school and closes banks and the post office. But to our Veterans, its a day filled with a range of memories, honor and pride. And as citizens, its a day that should remind us that our abundance, our prosperity, our freedom is ours to enjoy because of the courageous men and women who are willing to protect and defend us. So please take a moment to thank someone in uniform or reach out to a friend or relative who served and say “thank you.”
