Out with “Shabby Chic” and in with “Modern Industrial.” Balancing form and function, the growing trend towards an industrial attitude draws from the shabby chic notion of flea market finds but with a urban approach. Check out these cool finds!
I’m a sucker for card catalogs (ok, you can just go ahead and call me old school) so the Archive Credenza by CB2 is highly appealing for library junkies like me. Inspired by vintage library card catalogues this buffet/credenza/storage fauxs 3×3 drawers…but it’s actually 3 doors that open to shelve dinnerware to media. Handmade of sustainable plantation grown solid mango wood stained a smart warm gray.
Crate & Barrel brings you all the charm and character of a flea market find, with its Lyle Side Chair, crafted in galvanized steel with unique reverse-arched legs and a distinctive trumpet back. Artful details include recessed panel seat and back, beading and decorative perforations.
For a touch of whimsy, check out Cb2‘s Robot. This funky droid is made from antique-finished recycled iron and salutes trend with moveable arms. At his non-human heart beats a salvaged non-working meter. Each is unique.
The Short Industrial Metal Bath Cabinet from West Elm provides industrial strength storage and display. Made of raw steel, its just as home in the bath as it is in the bedroom.
“One of a Kind” Galvanized Metal Wash Tub Lantern from Shades of Light is a clever repurposing of a galvanized wash tub into a fabulous two light lantern, perfect for over top of a breakfast table or over a kitchen island or bar.
CB2′s Element Coffee Table is an aggregate of marble, granite, stone and natural fibers cemented into a sculptural, floating cantilever that is reminiscent of Wright’s Fallingwater.
And for full room inspiration…
