The Luxuries of Marble
There was a time when marble was only for the very wealthy. While marble remains one of the more expensive surface choices for the home, it is now available in a range of products and finishes that make it more attainable for the rest of us. No matter whether you choose marble flooring, marble tiles for a backsplash, marble slabs for a counter or have other interior design ideas in mind, you will be adding value and class to your home.
For a grand statement, marble floors are the most luxurious. Whether you choose to do a classic checkerboard pattern in black and white or a white and gray Carrera marble as seen here, you will add a classic feeling to your room, hall or bath.
Marble tiles are being seen more and more in and bath backsplashes. With any marble, the surface can be polished, honed, or tumbled as seen in the photo below. Tumbled marble has a more natural feeling and adds texture as well as pattern to a space.
Carrera marble is a classic choice for a counter top. As marble can be more porous than other stones, it stains easily. Think about using marble on a kitchen island if you are worried about maintenance.
Marble is a luxurious choice for the bath as well. Bathrooms are a great room to highlight a variety of marble types and finishes. Keeping to monochromes, play with types of marble slabs and tiles, finishes and sizes.
If you want to add the classic sophistication of marble to a room but don’t want to change the floor or surfaces, consider a piece of marble top furniture. A coffee table, dresser, dining table or side table with a marble top adds a touch of luxury to any room.
